Ulster Bank issues new polymer £50 note

Bank of Ulster began issuing its last polymer note on June 15, 2022.

The new post focuses on North Ireland industry, including aerospace, shipbuilding, flax mills and the film industry. The note design features the achievements of the women of Northern Ireland with astrophysicist Dame Jocelyn Bell discovery of growing pulsars. The note also features women working in the life sciences sector in Northern Ireland and the “thousands”, the women who worked in the laundry industry in Northern Ireland. The other side features the flora and fauna found in Northern Ireland.

“The new polymer banknotes last two and a half times longer than traditional cotton banknotes, making them more durable and environmentally friendly. Their advanced security features also make it easier for customers to protect themselves against fraud. »

The work was designed by Oh street and passed to From the streetwho converted the artwork into a functional design, created the banknote, then printed it on SAFEGUARD® polymer substrate.

Tickets use portrait orientation with enhanced security features, including two windows, a De La Rue holographic strip that secures both sides of the ticket with advanced technology DEPTH™ and PUREIMAGE™ effects, Improved GEMINI™ print function and a touch embossing function, enabling physical identification for the visually impaired. New £50 follows the launch of the £5, £10 and £20 polymer banknotes launched in 2019 and 2020.
